Ursula Holden-Gill (born 2 January 1974) is an English actress best known for her role as cancer sufferer Alice Dingle on ITV's Emmerdale. She is sometimes credited under her married name, Marsden.

Ursula graduated from St Martin's College, Lancaster in 1996 with a BA Honours in Drama and Music before studying at LAMDA and at the Drama Studio London.

Her television credits include The BillSex Chips and Rock and RollMrs Merton and MalcolmTrial and RetributionDr WilloughbyThe Wyvern MysteryPeople Like UsTeachers and Emmerdale.

Since then - intermittent with her work as a Television Actress, Ursula has guest lectured at The Royal Shakespeare CompanySalford University, St Martin's College, Edge Hill College, UCLAN, Blackpool and the Fylde College, Thomas Whitham Sixth Form College and Calderdale College.

For eight years she was also a LAMDA tutor of Singing, Speech and Drama in the Borough of Blackburn with Darwen. In 2007, Ursula underwent teacher training at Unity College, Burnley as part of the Lancashire Consortium Graduate Teacher Programme and attained full QTS.

Ursula continues to tutor SingingSpeech and Drama from her home in Calderdale and has recently established herself as a Professional Storyteller.


She once played Jack's mum in the Queen's Nose.
